The Dover Police Department in Delaware is moving forward with plans to expand the city's surveillance camera network using an artificial intelligence system designed to flag firearms. The system, named ZeroEyes, will scan hundreds of existing city cameras and produce an alert when it detects what appears to be a weapon. Alerts will be sent to a review facility where trained personnel verify the image before forwarding the information to Dover police for a field response. Police Chief Thomas Johnson explained that the goal is to help officers respond more quickly to potential gun-related threats. The technology is designed to operate alongside existing camera systems while focusing specifically on identifying firearms.
