Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament A.A. Rahim has petitioned the Supreme Court to ban the Delhi Police from using facial recognition technology and mass surveillance during demonstrations. The petition addresses recent NEET-UG protests linked to the Cockroach Janta Party following paper leaks, where officers deployed smart glasses, drones, CCTV cameras, and fingerprint applications. Rahim argues that these practices cross a line and violate constitutionally guaranteed privacy rights without clear legal backing. Furthermore, Right to Information findings indicated that no privacy check was conducted and tools designed for missing persons were instead used on protesters. His legal team is seeking an immediate ban on these surveillance tools, maintaining that they put public rights at risk.
