The Singapore Police Force is using artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, and 3D scanners to assist forensic specialists and investigators in solving cases and optimising resource use. Using 3D scanners to capture precise spatial information allows officers to create digital twins of crime scenes in a quarter of the time previously required. This technology enables investigators to revisit scenes virtually at any time for additional measurements, while also allowing road accident sites to be cleared quickly for traffic. Unmanned aerial vehicles are additionally deployed to capture aerial views, particularly across larger crime scenes. Deputy Superintendent of Police Tan Boon Kok, the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department's Special Investigation Section, detailed these tools during a media demonstration on June 8 showcasing their use in solving complex cases and training specialists.
