The Singapore Police Force is using artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, and 3D scanners to help forensic specialists solve cases and optimise resource use. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Tan Boon Kok, 3D scanners allow investigators to recreate crime scenes in a quarter of the time previously required by producing digital replicas that can be revisited at any time. This scanning technology is also deployed at road accidents to preserve scenes virtually so traffic can resume quickly, while aerial vehicles capture overhead views and artificial intelligence streamlines data analysis. Alongside tools like a Mixed Reality Training System demonstrated at the Police Cantonment Complex, the force noted that human judgement, empathy, and strategic decision-making remain indispensable to criminal investigations.
