Bernie Sanders Vows Legislation to 'Stop Flock and AI Mass Surveillance'

US Senator Bernie Sanders has pledged to introduce legislation to restrict the surveillance company Flock Safety. The Vermont independent warned that unchecked artificial intelligence tracking is pushing the country towards a surveillance state. He said the firm has deployed more than 120,000 AI cameras across over 6,000 communities, scanning 20 billion vehicles each month. Mr Sanders added that newer systems can combine imagery with databases of phone numbers, relatives and court records to identify people. His proposal follows wider bipartisan opposition, including planned funding cuts from Representative Thomas Massie and cancelled contracts from Los Angeles to Indiana.
