The Thomasville Police Department in Georgia utilised an artificial intelligence gunshot detection system to rapidly launch an investigation following a fatal shooting near Harper Elementary School. Authorities confirmed that Eddie Haygood died from injuries sustained in the shooting, and a 15-year-old has been charged with murder. The force's Flock Safety network, which was introduced in 2022, uses 99 sensitive devices called Ravens across the city to send immediate alerts to officers when gunfire is detected. TPD Major Shane Harris noted that the technology helps police solve crimes more quickly and has recorded 340 gunshots in the area this year.
