Following violent clashes during the July 20 "Sansad Chalo" student protest march from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament, Delhi Police have used Facial Recognition System (FRS) cameras to monitor attendees and identify individuals with criminal backgrounds. Police sources report that the technology has identified more than 2,000 such individuals entering the protest site, where nearly 3,000 officers have been deployed to maintain law and order. The demonstrations resulted in injuries to at least 130 police personnel and around 65 students, leading authorities to register 15 First Information Reports. While police attributed the escalation to stone-pelting by anti-social elements, Cockroach Janta Party representative Ashutosh Ranka accused officers of using excessive force against demonstrators and stated the organisation would submit a list of accused police personnel.
