District authorities in Visakhapatnam are deploying artificial intelligence-based crowd monitoring and CCTV surveillance for the Simhachalam Giri Pradakshina on 28 and 29 July. Visakhapatnam District Collector M.N. Abhishikta Kishore has instructed officials to coordinate security, traffic, and essential services for five to six lakh devotees expected along the 32-kilometre route. The AI crowd monitoring technology will be integrated with 70 temporary CCTV cameras, delivering live feeds to dashboards in a central command room and seven control centres. Police and GVMC officials will oversee seven zones and 28 sections across six shifts, operating from 27 July until the morning of 29 July. To assist with safety, authorities will also issue RFID tags to children and elderly devotees to help trace them if they become separated.
