Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has inaugurated an AI camera-based traffic monitoring and e-prosecution system on Lake Road, adjacent to Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and Zia Udyan. Speaking at the launch, Ahmed stated that around 1,500 traffic violation cases have been recorded through the police force's AI surveillance system so far, with approximately 38,000 traffic summonses currently pending disposal. The Lake Road corridor connects the July Memorial Museum crossing with the Urojahaj crossing, functioning as a major route for commuters travelling from Mirpur, Mohammadpur, and Dhanmondi. Due to its width and layout, the road frequently encouraged motorists to speed and make dangerous lane changes in a high-security zone heavily used by pedestrians. The installation of AI-enabled cameras aims to address these safety risks and improve the overall enforcement of traffic laws.
